Biography

Lucrezia de' Medici (14 February 1545 – 21 April 1561) was a member of the House of Medici and by marriage Duchess consort of Ferrara, Modena and Reggio from 1558 to 1561.

Married to the intended husband of her elder sister Maria, who died young, her marriage was short and unhappy. The Duchess died of pulmonary tuberculosis, but almost immediately after her death there were rumors that she had been poisoned on the orders of her husband. That suspicion inspired the English poet Robert Browning to create a dramatic monologue in verse "My Last Duchess" (1842).

Cappellacci di zucca -- handrolled pasta pillows, like oversized tortellini, filled with sweet pumpkin and nutmeg -- come drenched in meat ragu and topped with parmesan cheese. . Vasilissa D'Este is the older sister of Obizzo III, Rinaldo, Niccolo and Alisa D'Este, and eldest of Aldobrandino II D'Este and Alda Rangoni's 5 children

. In 1305 May, a year and 2 months after Bartolomeo I Della Scala died, a then 18 year old Vasilisa D'Este married a then 26 year old Parisi Di Lodrone

. In a midsummer Masquerade ball hosted by the D'Estes in Ferrara in June 1304, the D'Estes in tow tried to set Vasilisa up with Count Paris ( who was invited alongside the Della Scalas in tow )

. However, both are unsure of each other st first because they both been through similar heartbreaks of ' first loves '

. Vasilisa was once engaged to someone else who later on committed high treason against the D'Estes at 16, and thus her family came to try to secure a match for extra social protection for her

. Well, the 2 decided to get to know each other first anyway

. And then gradually, through hangouts and social events, the 2 found love with each other

. In the Christmas Eve of 1304, Count Paris and Vasilisa D'Este becomes engaged in the D'Este Christmas party, and the next day after that she moved to the Lodrone County Castle where she gets prepped to be a next Countess Di Lodrone

. Edit : Actually they got married in March 1305.

Vasilisa D'Este is decorous, charming and vibrant. But not to be trifled with. She has her mother's elegance and love of fine things, and her father's lion like ambitions

She has rich ginger curly hair ( took after her mother ), a lovely round face, curvy figure and big sea blue eyes ( took after her father )

The D'Estes and Della Scalas were in similar political hoopla at those points ( protection from feuding dramas and all that ), so the D'Estes and Della Scalas in tow decided to try help set up Paris and Vasilisa as a way to secure extra protection for both families with that match

But thr 2 weren't so sure about it at first ( due to ' first love ' heartbreak traumas )

They decided to get to know each other first anyway, and they become closer and....the rest is history

Vasilisa D'Este is kinda like Margaery Tyrell and Isabella D'Este

Much like Margaery, Vasilisa is cunning and loves the finer things in life

And similarly with Isabella D'Este, Vasilisa has a vibrant countenance and loves the patronage of arts

In fact, Vasilisa came to kind of remind Paris of his mother and Juliet in some lights

In turn, Count Paris feels about Vasilisa's ex fiance situation and never blamed Vasilisa for that first major heartbreak of hers

Vasilisa is strongly associates with Nike ( Greek Goddess of Victory )

She becomes an engine of victory for her allies in tow and a source of groundedness for Paris that he needs

Alfonso II d'Este

Alfonso II d'Este (22 November 1533 – 27 October 1597) was Duke of Ferrara from 1559 to 1597. He was a member of the House of Este.

Alfonso was the elder son of Ercole II d'Este and Renée de France, the daughter of Louis XII of France and Anne of Brittany and was the fifth and last Duke of Ferrara.

As a young man, Alfonso fought in the service of Henry II of France against the Habsburgs. Soon after his accession, he was forced by Pope Pius IV to send his mother back to France due to her increasingly Calvinist beliefs. The 1570 Ferrara earthquake occurred during his reign. In 1583, he allied with Emperor Rudolf II in the war against the Turks in Hungary.

Throughout the 1550s, Alfonso had an interest in Castrato singing voices. Given his childless marriages, this additional fact has prompted some historians to speculate that the Duke was homosexual.
